One of my favorite local bands is nancyscandy. Regular readers here know of my affection for this immensely talented band. They just released their new CD titled Scar. All four tracks on this Pictures Of Love, Break Me Down, the title track and LA simmer and boil with a high intensity. Mai Lien Walters is again vibrant and alive in her approach to each song. The guitar work of both Dean Gionis and Bob Malucci are superb. The CD has a live, one take feel to it and the songwriting and playing are of high quality. The vulnerability of Walters and the brashness of Gionis’ and Malucci’s playing blend perfectly. Our only complaint is its brevity. This of course only fuels our hunger for their next full-length release. 
     Do yourself and them a favor and go see them play out or better yet pick up one of their very fine CDs.
