Roaming Buffaloes Partners with Kids Escaping Drugs for Blues, Brews, & BBQ

June 12, 2009 (Buffalo, NY) Roaming Buffaloes, Western New York’s Premiere Adventure and Social Networking Club, is hosting an event on July 17 called Blues, Brews, & BBQ to benefit Kids Escaping Drugs.

Roaming Buffaloes has partnered with Kids Escaping Drugs to give Western New Yorkers a night of food, friends, and music in order to get the community involved in supporting a special cause. Flying Bison Brewing Company will provide some of their signature brews and serve as the backdrop for the night’s festivities. The Jony James Band, voted best Blues act by Artvoice in 2006, 2007, 2008 is set to perform their characteristic Blues music. Barbecue will be provided by BW's Smokin' Barrels BBQ, and will feature a selection of chicken, pulled pork, and ribs.

Tickets include admission to the event, food, beer, and music and are purchased at www.roamingbuffaloes.com for $25 each. A portion of each ticket price and the proceeds from a prize raffle go directly to Kids Escaping Drugs. LITA FORD PUTS HER BEST “FOOT” FORWARD THIS SUMMER

Legendary Female Rocker Recruits Guitar Guru Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal for
Her Touring Band

Lita has added another dimension to her upcoming tour by enlisting
fellow guitar giant Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal to duty by playing in her
backing band.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out on the road with
Bumblefoot,” says Lita, who’ll break a 15-year touring hiatus with the
jaunt, which will be preceded by a slew of festival dates both in the
states and in Europe. “It only took a couple of practices before we
really connected -- and that hardly ever happens. I’ve played with
some terrific musicians, but this combination is really something
special.”

Lita should know something about the qualities that make a musician
special. Throughout a career that stretches back to her mid-‘70s work
with groundbreaking all-female punk pioneers The Runaways, she’s been
acknowledged as a masterful string-slinger by dedicated fans and peers
alike, with nods from the folks at The GRAMMY Awards and seven Metal
Edge Readers’ Choice Awards, among other kudos.

She opted to put that part of her life on hold in the mid-‘90s,
however, when she married fellow rocker Jim Gillette (best known for
his work in Nitro) and concentrated on raising sons James and Rocco.
The family went about as far from the glammy Hollywood rock lifestyle
as possible -- moving to a quiet Caribbean island where tending gardens
and fishing replaced headbanging and crafting guitar solos as pastimes.

“We’re at a point where we can take the kids out with us, and let them
be part of the action,” says Lita, who proudly points out that her sons
have never spent a night in the company of a nanny or a babysitter.
“My oldest is a really tough, cool kid. He’s 12 and he loves being a
roadie -- he’ll run across stage with my Gibson and work the place like
a total professional.”

Bumblefoot, of course, brings his own unique brand of professionalism
to the mix. After more than a decade of winning fans and influencing
players as a solo artist and session musician, the New Yorker bulldozed
his way into mainstream consciousness as the primary guitarist on Guns
‘N Roses’ Chinese Democracy -- a gig that didn’t get in the way of his
own prodigious release schedule, documented at www.bumblefoot.com.

“I was so impressed by the different styles I heard from him,” says
Lita, by way of explaining her decision to team with Bumblefoot. “He
can be really heavy one minute and totally subtle the next. It gives
us an extra dimension.”

Lita and her band -- besides Bumblefoot, the crew includes Trixter
bassist PJ Farley, drummer Dennis Leeflang and keyboardist Michael T.
Ross -- will treat fans to an incendiary blend of classics from her
catalog and soon-to-be fan favorites from her loud ‘n’ lusty new album,
Wicked Wonderland, which is set for release this fall.

“Getting out on the road again is gonna be such a trip,” says Lita.
“It’s not like getting back on a bicycle -- it’s more like going back
to the gym and starting to really work out again after a long break.
But I’m definitely in shape and back up to lifting the heavy weights
again. It’s gonna be a blast for everyone.”

(June 19, 2009) - Kingdom Bound Christian Music Festival will offer attendees great value for their money this August 2-5 at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort with over 80 inspiring concerts and seminars. Internationally-known, multi-platinum selling artists Salvador, Casting Crowns, Israel Houghton, and Newsboys will be nightly headliners at the park's open-air Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, New York, halfway between Buffalo and Rochester.

This alcohol and drug free event is a fundraiser for the Council on Addiction Recovery Services: a not-for-profit organization serving Cattaraugus County for 35 years providing outpatient counseling, prevention services, and residential services for those affected by alcoholism and substance abuse as well as gambling treatment. There will be a flea market, a pig roast, children's activities, a health fair, and live music featuring Buffalo's Party Rock Band, the Strangers, Bird Swamp Bob and the Four-Point Bucks, and Seasons Change. LatinFest to debut in Hamburg July 11th

Buffalo, N.Y. (June 17, 2009) - The Buffalo area's newest summer festival, LatinFest, makes its debut July 11th, at 5pm. The event, which is free to the public and will feature free parking, food, dancing, live music, and kids' games/activities for teens, will take place on the grounds of the sprawling Wesleyan Church of Hamburg campus, located at 4999 McKinley Parkway, in Hamburg.

"I wanted to have a family-friendly, cultural event in the Southtowns," says event organizer Johnny Juarez, who is also an international recording artist. helping many different charities in our area as well as having a diverse
career in activism, music, and education. We at the BMHF are proud to
be partnering with Bob in his planning of a series of events and programs
where the best of Buffalo can positively impact the brightest of Buffalo.
With help from the BMHF Members, Bob's program is one of tutoring
and mentoring talented and enthusiastic young people.

The first part of the journey kicks off on Monday June 22 when Tunes4Food
takes place on Niagara Square. The event which will be directly in front of
City Hall will be a 25 hour marathon of music during which the public
is asked to donate food that will be collected by the Food Bank of WNY.
Music starts at Noon on Monday, June 22, and continues non-stop until
Tuesday at 1pm.

We are looking for support from our Inducted Members. The following
slots have been held open for BMHF participation:

Buffalo Musicians Host 25 Hour Food Bank Event

On June 22, 2009 at 12 noon at the steps of City Hall, Niagara Square, Buffalo musicians are tackling hunger issues on a grassroots level by providing a 25 hour FREE concert titled: Tunes4food. This event, that runs 25 hours straight, is in direct support of The Food Bank of Western New York.

Everyone faces tough challenges today, yet there is hope with the formation of a growing alliance hosted by student graduates of ‘Music in Action’ (an educational program sponsored by the local nonprofit, Music is Art), mentored by members of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, and Bob James, Director of Student Voices (a state-certified student leadership trainer).

ANYONE can join the “alliance” to support the event. All you need to do is promise to help spread the word and bring food to get your organization’s link on the website.

"A main message in Music in Action’s training is – ‘If you want to distinguish yourself from the crowd, just do what you say you will do. Keep the promises you make’", said James. "President Obama addressed the nation in the same manner speaking of grassroots community based service projects." Bob James, veteran of local groups such as The Restless, The Rain, Third Floor Strangers, Big Happy Family, and Ministers of Love, has used music to reach people in creative ways. His past projects include: This Is It – Greater Buffalo's Greatest 1977-1984 compilation Cd's, War Is Over – musicians united for safe schools, Buffalo Classic Rock CD benefit for Music is Art, and Music In Action - a school based business curriculum co-authored with Robby Takac (Goo Goo Dolls & Music is Art).

Bob James went on to say that several Music In Action students have stayed connected to us since graduation, wanting more support and direction – like continuing education. “Students get inspired by our training module on ‘music activism’ and when I saw a recent news story on how the Food Bank is getting more calls these days, it all just clicked – ‘tunes4food’”, James continued. “And since I have been helping the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame develop an after-school program, their participation seemed a natural fit, knowing that veteran musicians would add decades of career skills and wisdom about activism – going back to the 1960’s.”

“We are overwhelmed by this generous offer to create a 25-hour awareness of hunger in our community through a live continuous music concert." said Marylou Borowiak, President and CEO of the Food Bank of WNY. "We hope people from throughout Western New York will come downtown during that time to enjoy some wonderful music while helping a great cause of feeding our hungry neighbors, especially the children and seniors. There will be a Food Bank truck on site throughout the 25 hours."

"The Buffalo Music Hall of Fame is happy to be involved in such a wonderful event that will bring awareness and food for people in need. Book Celebrating Buffalo’s Pro Basketball Franchise set for Release

Buffalo, New, May 19, 2009 – Buffalo, Home of the Braves, a book detailing the history of Western New York’s National Basketball Association franchise, is scheduled for release on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

A book release event will be held in Buffalo that day. From 11 AM - 1 PM on May 30, author Tim Wendel will be available for the signing of books at the Community Room of New Era Cap Company. New Era is located at 160 Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo.

Buffalo, Home of the Braves follows the Buffalo Brave's meteoric rise and fall as a National Basketball Association franchise that played in Buffalo from 1970-78. The 216-page, coffee-table style book will be available in a limited edition of 1,500 copies, and retail for $89
The book is available online from SunBear Press. In addition it will available at the May 30th New Era event, and the University of Buffalo Bookstore. The book includes 250 vintage color and black-and-white photos by former Braves’ and Buffalo Bill’s photographer Robert Smith, along with interviews with several key players, coach Dr. Jack Ramsay, team owner Paul Snyder and team play-by-play announcer Van Miller.

The Buffalo Braves made history with their up-tempo style of play, three NBA Rookies of the Year, and consecutive scoring titles by a young and emerging star, Bob McAdoo. The team's identity is closely tied to Randy Smith, a seventh-round draft pick from Buffalo State, who turned a courtesy training camp invitation into an iron man career.

Each chapter chronicles one of the Braves' seasons playing in the wild and crazy NBA of the 1970s. Author Tim Wendel narrates the on and off court drama, while offering plenty of "what if" scenarios for the Braves' prospects in a league that was on the brink of greatness.
The opinion of that time is offered by legendary sports writer Phil Ranallo, with selected excerpts of his “What’s New, Harry” column that was a morning staple of The Buffalo Courier Express newspaper.

Nationally known writer and Buffalo native Erik Brady calls Buffalo Home of the Braves, “a seamless narrative, chock-a-block with time-capsule photos and bull’s-eye insights, all framed by selected ’70s columns from Phil Ranallo, smooth as a two-for-McAdoo jumper.”

Music Fans Can Vote For Their Favorite Now Through June 16th

Buffalo, N.Y. (May 21, 2009) - Last year, less than two dozen artists entered the Kingdom Bound Talent Search. This year, thanks to the power of Facebook and Twitter, online social-networking sites, there are 49 entries from all over the world. Kingdom Bound, known for its popular, annual Christian music festival at Darien Lake Theme Park, between Buffalo and Rochester, has run a talent search for years, but recently the search has gone from "send us your tapes/CDs" to "post your MP3 online" for judging. The deadline for entries was May 15. Entries came in from a wide variety of artists who cover musical styles from pop to rock, R&B to hip-hop, and country to blues. Most entries came from singers or bands in New York and Ontario, while Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, California, and even Australia were represented.

Now through June 16, music fans can hear the talent search entries online by visiting www.kingdombound.org/talent.html, where they can also vote for their favorite. For security measures, they will be asked for their birthdate and email address. The music will be judged both online and by industry experts, with the first place winner receiving a performance slot at Kingdom Bound and second and third place winners receiving complimentary tickets to the festival. The first place winner of Kingdom Bound's Talent Search will then go on to the national competition with the potential to win a development deal from Word Label Group, which includes Fervent Records, Myrrh Records and Word Records.

Kingdom Bound Ministries presents "the Gospel through the Arts" at various concerts and events throughout the year in Upstate New York and Southern Ontario. This August 2-5, Kingdom Bound Christian music festival takes place at Darien Lake Theme Park in Darien Center, New York, attracting upwards of 55,000 attenders from all over the United States and Canada.
