2009 Quaker Arts Festival

The Quaker Arts Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 19th and 20th, 2009. This festival which is one of the largest outdoor suburban arts and crafts festivals in the Southtowns area is held by the Orchard Park Jaycees in co-sponsorship with R.W. Publications are Each year, artists and craftsman numbering 250+ come together in Orchard Park to show off their most creative work in this juried show, which awards prize money totaling over $10,000 in a variety of categories on display at the show.

This very popular annual festival was first held over forty years ago by the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, remaining on their property from 1961 to 1964, when it outgrew its location. In 1965, the Orchard Park Jaycees, a non-profit organization, assumed the duties of running the festival, and they are now into their fourth decade of coordinating, organizing, and presenting this premier arts and craft show. The Jaycees in turn use monies earned at the Festival to sponsor a variety of charitable events benefiting the Orchard Park community.

Located on the grounds of the Orchard Park Middle School Campus, at the corner of Route 20A and South Lincoln Avenue, the festival hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 21st. Off site parking will be available at the casino area in Chestnut Ridge Park, where free shuttle buses will run back and forth to the craft show at half hour intervals each day.

In addition to the crafters, the pavilion on the school grounds will feature a full schedule of live entertainment both Saturday and Sunday. This year’s event will also feature a wide variety of food and beverages.
