2009 Amherst Museum Events

January 23 Burns Night Supper
This evening is a traditional supper honoring the Scottish poet with a cash bar, music, entertainment, dancing and the Address to the Haggis. Call 716-689-1440 for information and reservations.

March 28 Women’s History Month Luncheon
Each year the Amherst Women’s Interclub Council sponsors a luncheon and basket raffle honoring a women’s group and an individual woman who have made significant contributions to the Amherst community. Proceeds from the luncheon support the historic Sweet Home School. Call for reserva-tion information.

May 30 Amherst Celebrates the Arts
The Town of Amherst Arts and Culture in Public Places Advisory Board presents a celebration of the arts with performances, visual art, vendors, and children’s activities. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free admission.

June 20 - 21 Civil War Living History Weekend
Relive the Civil War by visiting military and civilian camps, visiting historic buildings, and watching battle re-enactments. June 20, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and June 21, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Call for a brochure and pre-sale tickets.

July 11 Don Davis Car Show
Hot rods, antiques, muscle cars and truck , exhibited by their owners will fill the Museum’s grounds for this annual event. Sponsored by Don Davis Auto World. Free admission.

July XX - XX Discovery School Day Camp
Children ages 8-12 will delve into the fascinating world of history. Call for a brochure.

July 18, 19, 25, 26,& August 1 Blacksmith School

August 2 Blacksmith Hammer-In
Everyone is invited to watch the blacksmiths at work, ask questions and learn more about this tradi-tional art. 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.

August 8 Wireless Meet
Members of the Niagara Frontier Wireless Association will hold its annual swap meet on the Museum Grounds. 8:30 a.m. - noon.

August 15 Scottish Festival & Highland Games
Enjoy a day of Scottish heritage with traditional and contemporary Scottish and Celtic music, Scottish food, bagpipers, dancers, vendors, sheep herding and much more! Call for patron information and pre-sale tickets.

September 16 - 19 Quilt Seminar
Beginning to expert quilters will find exciting classes to take in this annual event featuring nationally-known teachers Jo Morton and Kim Diehl. Call for a brochure and complete class listings.

October 23 - 24 Halloween Trick-Or-Treat
Children ages 3 – 10 will enjoy trick or treating at decorated historic buildings during this gently spooky event. Call for a brochure. Pre-paid reservations required.

December 5 Holiday Celebration
The Amherst Museum Board of Trustees hosts this annual dinner dance. For information call (716) 689-1440.

December 9 Holiday Tea
Enjoy an elegant holiday tea in the Victorian tradition and bid on treasures in the basket auction. Call for a brochure.
